Well this is what the title says. These stubby palms are what they cultivate to create palm oil. It is a major industry in PNG and one that can earn the nationals good money. The oil is created from the huge red nuts that the trees produce. The nuts are collected in bundles then shipped to a processing plant to extract the oils. There are literally thousands of these trees planted all over the countryside here. We walked through a smaller plantation, while following the trail on the first day.
