A sip of rice wine

A sip of rice wine

When we arrived at the first village, we had fortunately stumbled upon a ceremony, a celebration they only have once every three years. At this ceremony they sacrifice a waterbuffalo and feast for 6 days on the raw meat and rice and rice wine. This rice wine had been prepared a year ago for this celebration. They place the mixture in these ochre coloured vials and seal it off with a breathe tube made of bamboo for a year. Then this day, it was opened and the glasses were never empty. Many people just drank straight out of the vials, like this man, with a bamboo straw. Very tasty!!
