On the road again....
After the disappointment of having fellow campers opting not to join us, as originally planned and the charade involving renting a vehicle was finally resolved, we had nothing but good luck and fun times onwards. David was doing an excellent job driving even though he was used to driving on the opposite side of the road (as they drive on the left side in Oz). We cruised right onto the ferry at Horseshoe Bay just in time for the 5 o'clock sailing.
After leaving the boat, we made our way to Parksville and then began the long, slow, dark drive on the snow covered, narrow, winding roads, towards Tofino.
When we reached Tofino, it was 10:15pm and everything was locked up tighter than a drum. So we went to the Days Inn, thinking that they would be open, but the place was locked. I rapped on the door to ask the man behind the counter if he knew of any other place that might be open. The only response I got was 'we're closed', but then he came and asked if we needed a room. Maybe it was David's "I'm just an Aussie" accent, but the gentleman took pity on our cold butts and we scored a room for the night(it even had a nice view of the marina). We decided shortly after dumping all our gear in the room, that it was cause to celebrate our actually making it out to the West Coast of the Island, even with all the negative forces against us.
We crashed in bed after a dinner, beer & martini's down at the pub(where we inadvertently ran into the hotel guy having his after work beer too).

The next day we hopped on the 10:45 sailing to Ahousat on the 'Ahousat Pride' sea taxi to begin our short journey on the rugged coastline.
The weather was the best I've ever had in Tofino and it didn't rain once!!
Amazing for this time of year especially.
