Heading Further West

After spending time in Sappong area, Rose and I moved on by hitch hiking through the mountains to Ban Mae Su Ya. This is just a little community not adapted for outsiders, but it wasn't the village we were interested in. While we were in Pai, we met a family that had gone to the Vipassana Meditation Buddhist Monestary, and suggested we check it out. We hiked along the long driveway amoungst flowering fields and giant lumps of mountain surroundings until we reached the main gate. There was a calm air about the place and almost eery. Once we got into the main complex we talked with a monk for a while about why we had come, where we were from and about the schedule that took place every day at the monestary. Most of which was meditating, surprize, surprize.
He told us we were welcome to stay as long as we needed and had one of the bungalows quickly made up for us. It was a great little bungalow made out of hardwood and we even had our own bathroom with hot shower!!
I have an elaborate story to tell from here, but will have to write more about this whole experience later as I have to download these images onto the web to clear them from my memory card....
