diggin' the mud pit deeper

diggin' the mud pit deeper

Day 2 (tuesday) we started the day by eating breakfast at 7, shovelling the elephant poop out of the main feed area and into pits, raking residual food mess and cleaning the grounds. Next we jumped straight into the mud pit. This was a large pond created for the elephants to frolic and cool off in, when they felt like it. The mud pond was emptied with a large suction hose and a generator, then all the volunteers rolled up their pants and went in. The mud hole needs to be dug out as often as possible as the elephants tend to push the mud from the sides back in, after every entry. It was hot and heavy work but we expanded the deep end and got to see the result of our work almost immediately
